They’ll be Homeless for Five Days !
NO Cash, No Identification and only eating donated food. That’s how Six students will live all week on campus at the U of M. Besides not showering, and sleeping outdoors in a makeshift shelter, the six must still attend classes.
TODAY is day 1 for 5 Days for the Homeless. Students Raelene Roy , Dara Hallock , Rori Miller , George Semchuk , Santiago Godoy and Abel Nyamori begin giving up the comforts of home , to raise funds and awareness in support of homeless youth in Winnipeg to achieve independence.
Youth homelessness is a fact of life in our city and most often than not , we ignore it. These students are doing the opposite. They’ll be living homeless , in frigid weather , hoping to make a difference. Organizers say in this day and age there is absolutely no reason kids should be living on the street. Follow the campaign to help @ http://5days.ca/schools/university-of-manitoba/.
Last year’s campaign raised over 27,000. The bar this week has been raised to 30,000.Remember to be grateful , when crawling under your covers tonight.
