Families depend on YOU to Stomp Out Hunger this week !
500 volunteers are stomping out hunger this week. The 12th annual Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints food drive is underway. Family and friends have fanned out across the city to drop off 60,000 tent cards which ask us for Winnipeg Harvests’ Top Ten food items. The cards ask people to bag the non- perishable food items with card attached then place it on the front step for pick up this coming Saturday.
As Winnipeg Harvest suggests….” Hunger doesn’t take a holiday”. While many take a summer vacation, Harvest clients still struggle to make ends meet. Summer sees a drop in donations combined with school year breakfast and lunch programs not operating , families in need carry an extra burden .
Let’s make a point of filling out those cards and help make The Latter Day Saints Food Drive a BIG success. Four drop-off locations have also been made available; 700 London in E.K., 505 Academy in River Heights , 45 Dalhousie in Ft. Garry and 807 Setter street in St. James. A Big Saturday Block party will be held at the Dalhousie drop-off location from noon ‘til 4 to celebrate . Help “Stomp Out Hunger”!
