A Grow a Row Miracle for Winnipeg Harvest TODAY!
TODAY marks another special day for Grow a Row , started by back yard gardeners Ron and Eunice O’Donovan. Back in 1986 , the couple’s garden produced more veggies than they could use , so they began donating surplus to Winnipeg Harvest. Thanks to their friendly encouragement, neighbours and friends came on board to do the same. From then on , Grow-a – Row has yielded almost 4 Million pounds of garden produce and it’s popularity has spread across Winnipeg!
Today, Winnipeg Airports Authority, Red River College and Pegasus Publications announced almost 3,000 pounds of Garden Fresh Produce for Winnipeg Harvest. Thanks to students , staff and volunteers from all three organizations tending gardens around the airport , at Red River College and home based plots ,an amazing bounty is heading to fight hunger and feed hope. Ron and Eunice O’Donovan would be proud.
