You don’t realize how much joy you can get from Christmas lights until you see a whole house or street shining bright. Grab a thermos of hot chocolate and check out some of these great light displays in Winnipeg!
Some of the Best Christmas Light Displays in Winnipeg
275 Aldgate Rd in Riverpark South
Ken’s Christmas Lights for Hope is a sight to see in Riverpark South. It has a ton of lights, figurines and synchronized Christmas music between 5 pm to 11 pm. There is also a donation box at the end of the driveway. All money raised goes to Childrens Wish Foundation.
503 Kildare Avenue West in Transcona
Peter Kwiatek has been setting up the gorgeous holiday display for years with his wife Pam. In 2014 she lost her battle with cancer but Peter wanted to keep the tradition going in her memory so every year, he takes 300 hours to assemble the more than 30,000 lights. It’s a project he has to start planning on November 1st. He uses the opportunity to gather donations for Winnipeg Harvest too!

125 Shorecrest Drive in Linden Woods
This beautifully over the top house is on the corner of Hennessey and Shorecrest and that cornerspot means, more area to decorate. The house, the fence, the trees and everything in between. They even have synchronized music you can access on your radio dial. The thing that makes this display even better is that the only lights their next-door neighbor has is a sign the says DITTO with an arrow.
Various Linden Woods Streets
Linden Woods has been doing the Linden Lights Competition for as long as I can remember and though participation may be down in the area as a whole, there are some streets that are still going for it. The most well-known is Candy Cane Lane (Foxmeadow Drive). This one’s near and dear to my heart because I grew up on Foxmeadow (on the other, less organized side). They were the first to band together as a street and then Polar Bear Lane (Hennessey Drive) started giving them a run for their money. Not wanting to be left out, Park Royal Bay off Hennessey has some toy soldier figures throughout the street and Linden Shore Drive on the other side of Linden Woods has also started to get organized over the last few years with a Penguin theme.
(I couldn’t get a good picture but the entire street is full of blue lights! You have to see it for yourself.)
