Winnipeg begins to show it’s Christmas LOVE this week!
If you’ve never delivered a Hamper for the Christmas Cheer Board, perhaps this is the year you might. I did so on several occasions and I can tell you, it’s such a rush. You meet families, single people and especially children, whose eyes light up when they see you bringing in a Hamper.
It’s Kick-Off week for the annual Food Drive Grocery bag distribution. Sobeys, Safeway and IGA team up to invite Winnipeggers to give the Gift of Food. The Winnipeg Free Press will deliver grocery bags in each edition making it easy to begin filling them with non- perishable food items , then dropping them off at a store nearby.
The Cheer Board began serving the city in 1919, when local churches saw a need for widows and orphans from World War One. Over 10,000 applications have already been made this year so the need has never been greater. You can Volunteer to work in the warehouse , deliver hampers and apply for a hamper by logging on at https://www.christmascheerboard.ca/contact
Here’s a brief overview from our friends at Shaw Cable for a brief history.
