Paddling Cardboard Boats today at the Air-Base!
Sink or Swim? That’s the question when it comes to building a boat using 2 sheets of cardboard, duct tape and contact cement? 16 high school teams from across Manitoba are building them for the 11th Annual Cardboard Boat Race Challenge this afternoon.
The Activity takes place in the 17th Wing , Fitness and Recreation center. Students have 2 hours and will be armed with cardboard, duct tape etc. and their own ingenuity, to build a vessel, step in and paddle it across the water. The 4 person teams will be judged on speed and the crafts capability to carry the weight. FUN and Funny!
Created by Skills Canada-Manitoba , it’s an event designed to introduce young Manitobans to career opportunities in the skilled trades, which are currently are facing labour shortages across the prairies. Boat Races begin at 1pm.
