KidFish is coming. Join hundreds on the ice!
UKRAINIAN Christmas is a special day in Selkirk. Sunday, January 7th is the day when hundreds will gather for an annual Family Fishing event called KidFish; an ice-fishing derby on RED RIVER Ice north of the Selkirk Float Plane base off Breezy Point Road.
KidFish has been called the largest not-for-profit, family fun fishing event in Manitoba. Last year 1300 dropped a line, raising over 40 thousand dollars for Children’s Hospital and CancerCare ; over four years 96 thousand in total. Money used to buy family parking passes at HSC, sending children with Cancer to Camp Indigo, buying wigs for kids , laptops iPads and gaming systems.
The first 400 kids get a free rod and reel combo and over 35 thousand dollars in prizes and giveaways will be up for grabs too. Early bird prizes of 500 dollars will be awarded for tickets bought before December 19th. Sounds like a super Sunday for the whole family to hang out fishin’ together and helping make a lasting impact for kids touched by Cancer. That’s January 7th, 2018.
