HUNDREDS will walk this Thursday afternoon in support of Alzheimer Research. Many will be friends and family of those suffering Dementia and other symptoms of Alzheimers, affecting over 22,000 in Manitoba.
The walk has been moved from The Forks to the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park to become the largest fundraiser of the year. Over a thousand registered last year helping fund work done connecting those with dementia and their care partners to support services, education and information.
WARNING SIGNS to be aware of;
- Memory loss that affects day-to-day function.
- Difficulty performing familiar tasks.
- Problems with language.
- Disorientation of time and place.
- Poor or decreased judgement.
- Problems with abstract thinking.
- Misplacing things.
- Changes in mood and behavior.
- Personality changes.
- Loss of Initiative.
