This is a really BIG DEAL for St. Norbert!
ST.NORBERT, is a small French-Canadian community south of the perimeter on highway 75. Every Saturday morning in the summer you'll be greeted by a TERRIFIC TRAFFIC JAM ! It's because city folks are trying to get into the St. Norbert Farmer's Market. It's been happening every Saturday morning for the past 24 years. Manitoba’s farm families have loaded up their vehicles with farm fresh fruit, flowers, meats and vegetables. They come from St. Adolphe, Starbuck, St. Léon, and from as far away as Killarney, bringing wares from their farms to you. I remember broadcasting live from there several years ago and couldn't believe the crowds....it was like the Red River Ex on a hot summer day. The Market is a huge draw for city folks wanting fresh-from-the -fields produce......freshly baked breads and pies......wonderful , one of a kind , home made crafts and much much more.No wonder so many come to shop. This is Manitoba's LARGEST outdoor farmer's market and the word has spread drawing hundreds. Such success means the MARKET must expand. In order to do so , organizers say a million dollars worth of expansions are planned over the next 5 years....indoor and outdoor structures....more roomy vendor spaces...better traffic control for pedestrians and vehicles.....improved drainage....and hurray , PERMANENT Washrooms!
To help with the financing , a big FARMER's FEAST is planned for September 6th.. you'll find fresh foods prepared by Manitoba Chefs, local brewers, food artisans and farmers themselves....entertainment will be provided too .Organizers claim it'll be a great way to celebrate local food and chefs. The cost is $75 per ticket, which includes a $35 charitable tax receipt
You'll receive a $5 rebate when you bring your own wine glass....The FEAST runs from 630 til 930 and makes for a great evening.By the way tickets sell-out every year! Be sure to get yours early! You can pick them up this Saturday when you're at the market. Enjoy. lov koz.
