Winnipeg's Biggest Loser

Fifteen teams have all joined together for a common goal - losing weight and living healthier in 2010!
At the end of it all, one team will score a few extras - to help keep them motivated along the way. The team who has lost the highest combined total percentage of body weight as of Sunday, May 3, will win:

Groups will be put into monitored 3-month training periods, with assesments and weigh-ins for each individual team member. At the end of the training period, the team with the biggest combined total weight loss will win awesome prizes from a variety of sponsors!
Click the "Alter Ego Sports Play At Home Logo" to register and receive e-mails from Alter Ego about ways you can change your lifestyle at home. This will include 3 weekly workouts - one with cycling, the other non-cycling. You can register before February 28 to have them send it to you directly. Or they'll also post it for anyone who wants to read it on-line.
If you're following one of the cycling workouts, you can earn store credit by logging your mileage with a bike computer. You can log it on-line, or bring it in-store May 15 to get 10 cents store credit for every kilometre you conquer, up to 1,000 km.
If you don't have a bike computer, you can see Alter Ego for one. And if you mention 'Winnipeg's Biggest Loser', they'll even install it for free.
You can also enter a personal fitness goal on-line (ie. "I want to lose 10 pounds"), and if Alter Ego draws your name May 15 (and you've followed through), you can win over $500 in prizes!

CancerCare Manitoba knows that in order to become 'Winnipeg's Biggest Loser', we have to not only be willing to exercise regularly, but also Eat Well. It's important to plan a healthy diet according to Canada's Food Guide. This will not only help us to meet our needs according to required vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, but will also reduce our risk of obesity, diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
Canada's Food Guide can break down meal requirements for persons of any sex or age, as it relates to each of the 4 food groups - vegatables and fruit, grain products, milk and alternatives, and meat and alternatives. For more information on how you can eat healthier, check out the food guide here.
