There’s whole lotta shakin’ going on at the U of M Today!
The University of Manitoba is a city unto itself. Some thirty thousand students call our province’s largest university home and today is a special day to celebrate. It’s the school’s 140th anniversary. Western Canada’s FIRST University is holding many events today, reflecting on the institutions years of higher learning.
Today , former Alumnus , Senator Murray Sinclair had this to say about this renowned institution …” at a time when universities across Canada and the US were still excluding women and suppressing minority enrollment, our founding gift from Metis scholar Alexander Isbister was made with the stipulation that money be awarded solely on merit to deserving students, regardless of sex, race, creed, language or nationality”.
Events began at Sunrise today, with many activities slated for the rest of the day. Expect music, food, and plenty of fun activities. Here’s what you can look forward to , for the rest of the day!
