Winnipeg woman’s job interview cancelled because she inquired about wages…
How DARE you be interested in what your compensation will be when applying for a new job! I mean, we should all just do it for the LOVE right? Surely the companies we work for only care about the passion for their product and not their bottom lines…right?! ….Riiiiiight.
Canadian founded company SkipTheDishes has gone viral …and not in a good way… for the way they handled an inquiry from a potential new employee.
Taylor Byrnes shared her experience via Twitter explaining that she was at the 2nd interview stage for a menu development job with SkipTheDishes but, when she asked about compensation and benefits after her initial phone interview, the HR person at SkipTheDishes cancelled her upcoming second interview with an interesting explanation…
Folks on the Interweb were displeased, too say the least…

I loathe that hiring processes still force us to pretend money isn’t the primary reason we want jobs https://t.co/0Ydpm81UW5

SkipTheDishes has since reached out to Byrnes to apologize and offer her the second interview. In a statement offered to BuzzFeed Canada,
co-founder, Joshua Simair, said: “The email sent to Taylor was wrong and does not represent our team’s approach or values. We are very disappointed in how it was handled. We do share a compensation package prior to hiring. As soon as we became aware of it on Monday, we reached out to Taylor to apologize for the email and reschedule her interview.”
