How Much Do You Pay The Babysitter?

My family and I love living in Winnipeg, but if there’s one thing I miss about BC, it’s being able to scam free babysitting out of both Julie and my parents as much as possible. “Don’t you want to spend time with your grandkids? They miss you.” It’s because the alternative is REALLY expensive.
According to a new survey, babysitters now cost $15.20-per-hour, per-child. So if you’ve got two kids and you go out for four hours, that’s $120 worth of babysitting. That explains why Julie and I don’t get out much.
But even with those prices, it seems Julie and I are in the minority. Almost one-third of parents hire a sitter at least once a week. 10% hire one two times a year or less.
