Disney is getting to work on their next live-action remake Aladdin and the latest casting news is that Will Smith is in talks to play the Genie.
Of course, if he does get the part, he has some big, pointy shoes to fill. Robin Williams gave an incredibly memorable performance in the 1992 animated version. Rumor has it, Kevin Hart was also approached.
The new Aladdin will be directed by Guy Ritchie and is supposed to start filming in the UK this June. There’s no release date yet, but judging by the timeline of the other movies, it’ll probably come out in 2019.
