The Teddy Bear’s Picnic will see hundreds of Teddy Bears being treated by trained Doctors and Nurses. WORRY Bears will also be looked after! Their treatment will occur in a special new WORRY BEAR tent. Parents and their children will learn about Mental Health Issues like anxiety and how to cope.Everyone can use that.
Since children tend to project their troubles on their toys, Family Psychologists will be on hand to offer suggestions to parents how to help when the children have worries, anxiety, or panic attacks. The Doctors say that 70% of adult mental health problems begin during childhood. Learning what to do in the Worry Tent, could help prevent bigger difficulties down the road.
Most of the actions will center around group discussions on how to face fears and challenge negative thoughts. One on one consultations will also be available if needed. It’s interesting to note that the Worry Docs call anxiety the common cold of mental health disorders and most of us don’t know what to do when it comes to that. So, make it a point to bring the kids into The Worry Bear Tent . It may act as a catalyst to good mental health for the WHOLE family! See you Sunday, May 28th in the Park!
