Thee Chords & the Truth is the first single from Chase Rice’s upcoming album Lambs & Lions, due out September 29th.
This song is a self-proclaimed country tribute to country music! Rice starts the song talking about the draw of Music City, with Rice referencing his own journey from North Carolina down to Nashville.
From there, the song evolves, always coming back to the idea that Nashville (as a metaphor) is not the flower but the seed of a country singer’s life.
Rice and co-writers Ross Copperman and Jon Nite name check several country songs through the verses and variations of each chorus. Several are indeed “Three Chords & the Truth” while others like “Amazing Grace” are just staples. Unlike his previous hits, there’s nothing aggressive about this new song. It’s a more organic approach from a singer who says he’s ready to bare his soul.
