37 Years and 700 million dollars later!
Sunday, many of us will be running for Canada’s Greatest Hero, TERRY FOX. People around the world know of this one legged Canadian who attempted to run across our country to find a cure for Cancer. The Marathon of Hope–Terry’s decision to make a difference–started off in St. John’s, Newfoundland and ceased in Thunder Bay when the doctors had discovered that the cancer had spread into his lungs. It’s a story that keeps resonating every year.
This SUNDAY at the Lyric Theatre in Assiniboine Park, hundreds will gather to remember and RUN in Terry’s Memory! As always, it’s a family event. One can run, walk, blade or bike. Take your pick of a 2 K or 5K distance.
The money that’s raised goes to innovative Cancer Research. Last year almost 27 million was directed to Terry’s Foundation Research Projects, with the potential for the best and fastest outcomes. Current multi-year studies include lung, breast, ovarian, colorectal, prostate, brain oral and blood cancers. Download a pledge form , make a donation and register online at www.terryfox.org. See you Sunday at the Lyric at 830 in the morning. Terry would want us there.
