The scene is set for Thursday morning to SHOCK 250 students which may save their lives!
Motor Vehicle Accidents are the leading cause of death for TEENS ! This Thursday morning , 250 students will be up close and personal to a crash. The Mounties , MPI and the Brain Injury Association have organized the 21st annual MOCK Car Crash to help raise awareness about the importance of driving safely.
Police , Fire Paramedic Services, Stars Ambulance and Chapel Lawn Funeral home are hosting the event at 400 Portage avenue across from Park West Auto Mall. Even though it’s a Mock crash , it demonstrates in a realistic way the impact and effects of risk taking while behind the wheel.
Real vehicles manned by live actors will use special effects and emergency personnel to expose the TEENS to consequences of risky behavior; driving impaired , texting , not using a seatbelt and speeding! Added realism occurs when impact reports from emergency personnel , survivors and family members of victims are shared. Officials expect those students brought in from Maples Collegiate , Warren Collegiate , Tec Voc and Transcona High school will find the effect to be “ Life-Changing”.
