FortWhyte Farms’ Giant Pumpkin Weigh-In happens TODAY!
This is the mighty big pumpkin they’ll be weighing at Ft. Whyte this afternoon. A contender in the National Great Pumpkin Growing Contest. It’s so big it needs a front end loader to move it. A pumpkin with a history too, since it’s an offspring of the 2015 provincial winner from St. Norbert.
It’s here that underserved urban youth , age 15-19 involved in the employment program at FortWhyte Farms , tended the plant while it grew , in good old farm – made compost, part of their learning experience in sustainable agriculture.
FortWhyte officials call this Big Baby the biggest Pumpkin they’ve ever grown. Today at 530 , during The “Boss-Lady’s” Show , City , Farm staff and the youth involved in its’ growth , will attend the weigh-in at the “West Garden” area. Once done, everyone present will be treated to a Big piece of Pumpkin- Pie!
