Winnipeg is famous for Food Trucks , but you won’t see this one on Broadway!
This is a very different Food truck . Professor JANIS Thiessen from the University of Winnipeg , will soon head out to ask Manitobans to share food memories , histories , family recipes and even come aboard to prepare a meal.
It’s a research project meant to compile the Food History of our province. You can bet, with people from so many parts of the world making Manitoba home, the compilation will be vast and interesting. Next summer, she’ll drive this truck across Winnipeg, Steinbach and the Parkland region, researching and selling product to people along the way Stories like Tina’s Bean soup; tracing where the beans are grown, linking that story and Tinas’ recipe on a website. Food , where it’s from and how it’s prepared in MANITOBA. Fun!
The project will eventually include student produced podcasts, a virtual museum exhibit and even a walking tour of Manitoba’s food history sites .This will be RESEARCH we can chew on.As the Truck says , …” It’s all Good”….. Learn more at www.communications@uwinnipeg.ca
