A Big Innovation…..SOLAR Driven Garbage and Recycling Containers!

WINNIPEG must  find ways to save time, money and fuel in picking up almost 4,500 Garbage and Recycling containers. Public Works  is  testing Bigbelly Smart Waste and Recycling systems. They’re  said to cut collections by 80% and costs by 75%.The amazing containers measure  the amount of waste and  recycle products in each receptacle then sends  e-mail alerts when pick up is required.

It’s a very GREEN System too, using Solar Power to compact 8 times the amount of material a normal bin would hold. Fifteen units will be placed in each of the city’s wards as a pilot project. The cost pegged at 90 thousand dollars, but expected to be worth every dime!
