There’s only 3 more days ‘til the end of POUTINE Week in Winnipeg .French fries , cheese curds and gravy are waiting at 80 city restaurants. Attendees can vote for their favorite creations at lapoutineweek.com. As a cross-Canada festival, each city will announce a winner based on those votes. Much like Le Burger Week, La Poutine week showcases the traditional French-Canadian dish where each local restaurant puts their own signature spin on it.
It’s said Poutine originated back in the ‘50’s in a little Quebec Restaurant, after a customer asked the chef to add cheese curds to a customer’s fries. The response was, it would make a dreadful mess. The rest of course is history. If on a diet you may wish to look away but with the adage everything in moderation , perhaps a small bowl of this deliciously “ugly “ mess would suffice.
