It’s a most delicious day today!

Mardi Gras- FAT Tuesday- Pancake Day! They’re all the same .Technically this is Shrovetide Tuesday , when Christians traditionally confess their sins in church ahead of Lent.Many use Lent as a way of testing their willpower – often giving up things like chocolate or other sweet treats before Easter.

So why the Pancakes today?  Tradition says it was a way to use up eggs, milk and sugar before the fasting season of lent begins tomorrow, known as Ash Wednesday. This is when we give up foods we enjoy for the next 40 days. Making a sacrifice by eating less pleasurable foods such as meat, dairy and eggs, to prepare for Easter.

Today is known as the last day of indulgence .New Orleans and the Caribbean are celebrating today as MARDI GRAS! It’s a very big party, filled with merrymaking feasting drinking and dancing before Lent. Many city churches will open their doors today to host Pancake suppers and invite everyone to come in and indulge. Nothing like a tall Stack of Pancakes smothered with syrup and butter to entice you, ‘eh? You don’t have to be religious neither to attend so pick a church nearby and give them a call. They’ll be more than pleased and so will you!
