I feel tired already just thinking about it. DAYLIGHT SAVING Time begins this weekend and Monday morning i‘ll be wishing for another hour of sleep. It’s the time to “SPRING” forward one hour and I still wonder why? We’re told it’s to make use of daylight longer in the evening by starting an hour earlier in the morning. Tell that to our circadian clock!
CNN reports over 70 countries take part in Springing Forward one hour. China , Japan and many near the equator don’t subscribe. Farmers don’t like it. The sun not the clock dictates their schedule. D.S.T. they claim is disruptive causing them to wait an hour for the dew to evaporate harvesting hay , while their cows are not ready for milking an hour earlier just to meet shipping schedules. Others like retailers and recreational businesses love it.Perhaps we should leave the clocks alone? Recent research from the American Academy of Neurology showed an increase in risk of an ischemic stroke in the first two days after transition. Another reason comes from The American College of Cardiology which reports a 25% jump in Heart Attacks on the Monday after Springing Forward.
D.S.T is coming so we may as well be prepared. Sleep experts suggest going to sleep 30 minutes earlier a few days before;adjust your clocks , daily activities and meal times a day before; exercise; do not nap on the weekend and avoid substances which can affect your falling asleep;Sunday be productive and avoid laziness. It will boost your energy levels and make you more alert! I can’t vouch for you but a big fat YAWN is coming on!
