How will you celebrate EARTH DAY?
Loving Mother EARTH should be a requirement. After all it’s our home. Sad to say many of us , me included take this for granted. Look around and you’ll see how badly we treat it. We soil the water, land and air and expect it to rejuvenate. An island of plastic in our ocean is an example. Nothing changes IF nothing changes. This Sunday would be a good time to begin!
EARTH DAY Sunday will be celebrated in many locations across the city. FORTWhyte Alive will hold one of the largest, hosting family-friendly activities to encourage outdoor recreation, green transportation and actions for sustainable living. It’s FREE and runs from 10am until 4pm. www.fortwhyte.org.OAK HAMMOCK Marsh , north of the city , will invite city dwellers to enjoy their Earth Day activities starting at 10am as well ; a trash walk, trail games, compost tour, demos, films and presentations will be offered. CHILDREN’S Museum at the Forks will offer children a chance to plant seedlings and help create a life size Honeycomb. www.childrensmuseum.com . Assiniboine Park, our largest ,will spend Saturday and Sunday for special Earth Day events. Visitors will even be shown how to reuse old textiles to make bags, baskets and capes. www.assiniboinepark.ca. Now let’s go back to Earth Day’s beginnings and watch the late WALTER Cronkite, once called America’s Most Trusted , share the story….
