New 2U at 2:02 April 23, 2018: Would you add Sugarland ft. Taylor Swift, “Babe” to your playlist?…
When she heard Sugarland was planning a reboot, Taylor Swift thought she had just the song for the duo. Swift co-wrote Babe with Pat Monahan (lead singer of pop group Train) and approached Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush about recording it as soon as she got the news. Nettles said, “She was excited we were getting back together and reached out, and said, ‘Hey, I have a song,’…and that is a short list, ladies and gentleman, of people to whom she has said, ‘Hey, I have a song! Wanna sing it?’…so we said yes.”
It may not be all that common for Taylor Swift to hand over songs she’s written to other artists (although, it can be huge when she does, just ask Little Big Town) but it’s also not a common occurrence to find songs penned by others on a Sugarland album. In fact, says Kristian Bush, “We’ve never really put a song by anybody else on any of our records.” So, basically, “Babe” is already a big deal on a couple of levels…is it going to be a big enough deal for you to add it to your personal playlist(s)?… Listen for it just after 2pm on QX104 and let us know if it’s a “yes or no” for you.
Babe will be on Sugarland’s comeback album, “Bigger“, which is set for release June 8. It will be Sugarland’s sixth studio album, and their first since 2010’s The Incredible Machine.
