The Milky Way – never been seen before !

The most detailed star chart of our Milky Way Galaxy has just been released. Results of The European Space Agencys’ GAIA Probe , which collected high precision measurments of nearly 1.7 billion stars. It’s a wealth of new data including measurements of distance, motion, brightness and colour considered the most accurate Star census ever.
Hundreds of scientists and Software people took years to process all the data from collected between 2014 and 2017 resulting in the generation of new maps including asteroids in our solar system . Here are three views pictured below; The first shows brightness and colour of stars; the second indicates total density and third shows the interstellar dust which fills the Galaxy.
