TORONTO has been ranked # 1 as Canada’s “Most Youthful” city. Described as the best place for young people to live. Rankings were based on a 112 indicators like cost of transit, rent, digital access , employment and even cost of concert tickets among them.
The survey was weighted by what matters most for Canadian youth between 13 and 19 , examining what makes 13 cities surveyed so attractive. Sources used were the recent census , Stats Canada , municipal data and universities.
The country’s largest city leads all of them based on diversity and civic engagement where young people comprise a fifth of the population. Highest rankings went to entrepreneurship and creative arts. Scoring lowest in areas of free WiFi , transit commuter time and cost of rent. WINNIPEG placed seventh of 13 cities surveyed. The index was meant to nudge cities to adopt “youthful” qualities by being open , innovative and dynamic.
