Social Media; it can be a great place to connect and share with friends and family, but let’s face it. It can also be filled with tons of annoying stuff that drives you bonkers right? You could always unfriend or unfollow the annoying people, but sometimes the drama that will cause isn’t worth the headache right?
I know, I know…if you don’t want to see it, don’t follow the person, but sometimes you have to follow that person! Old friends from school, people you work with, Grandma….let’s face it, it could get REALLY awkward if they notice you unfollowed or unfriended them.
Facebook has the “unfollow” feature, and Twitter has the “mute” button, both allow you to still be friends or follow a person, but no longer see their posts in your feed, but until now on Instagram, your choice was to delete that person from your list entirely or keep seeing their posts. But not anymore! Instagram has added a mute button. The mute feature just makes it so you will no longer see their post on your feed, but you will still be friends. No awkward conversations in the lunch room about why you unfollowed them.
Do you think you’ll be muting anyone? Have you already started? If you’re worried you might be the one getting muted, here are the top 3 things that people say they are tired of seeing on Instagram.
- Gym Selfies
It’s great that you work out, we’re proud of you really! But do you really need to share the selfie you took in the gym mirror EVERY DAY?
2. Beach Legs
We get it! You’re on vacation. We know because you posted a countdown picture every day for the 3 months before you went on this vacation. Do you really need to post your legs sitting poolside?
A combination of this weather and watching Moana twice in one week is making me really miss the sun and sandy beaches #throwback #mexico #privatebeach #honeymoon #holiday #lastyear #sun #sea #beach #beachlife #tan #tanning #obligatorysausagelegspic #sausagelegs #beachphotography #beachphoto #jalisco #puertovallarta #beachy #travel #beachlegs #mandatoryselfie
3. Pictures Of Your Food/ #FoodPorn
If you’re a chef or food blogger, then sure. Obviously it’s your job to show off your food…But do you really need to take a picture of the bowl of cereal you just poured? Adding a banana doesn’t make you Gordon Ramsay.
Those were the top three, what about for you? What annoys you on Instagram or other social sites?
