New 2U at 2:02 Sept 12, 2018: Will you be adding the 35th Anniversary remake of Rise UP to your playlist?
Major Canadian country collaboration alert!
Seventeen Canadian country artists came together, as The Common Cause Collective, to bring new life to a song with a message that continues to resonate 35 years after it was first recorded.
Among the artists lending their voices are Gord Bamford, Cold Creek County, Don Amero, River Town Saints, Tebey, Madeline Merlo, Leah Daniels, JoJo Mason, Meghan Patrick, Tim Hicks, Kira Isabella, Dan Davidson, Brett Kissel, Jess Moskaluke, Jason McCoy, Jessica Mitchell and The Washboard Union and it is one of 2 new versions of the song being released as part of a charity project. All of these artists recorded their parts in studios in across Canada and in Nashville.
Together, these artists have formed The Common Cause Collective (3XC), and the new recording is designed to raise funds for socially-conscious charities handpicked by Parachute Club singer Lorraine Segato.
The original “Rise Up,” produced by Daniel Lanois, appeared on Parachute Club’s 1983 self-titled debut album. A Top 10 hit in Canada, it was named Single of the Year at the Juno Awards in 1984.
