A British Couple Bought Their Honeymoon Hotel After A Few Too Many At The Beach Bar
We’ve all made impulse purchases that we now regret right?
But a British couple on their honeymoon took impulse purchasing to a new level! And of course alcohol was involved.
Gina Lyons and Mark Lee were on their honeymoon in Sri Lanka where they stayed at a rustic beach hotel. On their first night, they went to the beach and ended up talking with the bartender of the hotel. He went on to tell the couple that the hotel was actually closing down because they could not make their lease payments. After 12 or so drinks, the couple decided to make the payments which came out to roughly $40,000 over the next 3 years. And it’s not like they’re rich. Once they sobered up, they panicked over what they’d done . . . but a deal is a deal, and they couldn’t back out of it.
Luckily…the hotel is actually doing pretty well for them. After making half of their $40,000 payment already, they sunk another $8,000 into the hotel for renovations and reopened in July under the name Lucky Beach Tangalle, and they say, fortunately, business has been GREAT.
